***Extending Selfcare at Home***

In-home care for active seniors with normal concerns about their health is an economical alternative to relocating to an extended healthcare facility. Using Vital Signs Monitor, a system that records blood pressure, pulse, temperature and blood / oxygen concentration readings in 30 seconds with a hospital-grade monitor, people of advancing age can continue to live at home, by relying on a daughter, son, sister, brother, neighbor or good friend, located nearby or miles away--to alert their doctor if a health problem develops. Vital Signs Monitor stores the readings in an online accessible file.teksty family member simply follows a physician's guidelines to keep track of their loved one's health status between doctor visits. Pre-emptive monitoring can be performed online and the attending physician can be alerted when a health problem arises. Vital Signs can be reviewed from a remote location with a secure password. Also, when a user subscribes to a complementary service called Personal Medical Record (PMR), a physician can access the computer that stores the vital signs readings as well as stored medical history files with a secure personal password to determine the significance of a downturn in health status. Using the Vital Signs Monitor developed by ReAsure.net, people of advancing age have an unprecedented opportunity to continue to live independently and do things for themselves. In the event of sudden symptoms, such as chest pain, dizziness, fever, delirium, malaise and lightheadedness the user can alert a physician directly with the Automatic Emergency Telephone Dialer included with Vital Signs Monitor.I am a computer programmer developing applications for health care field. My primary focus is on selfcare for the elderly.

***Passionflower*** With its alien-looking flowers, egg-shap unimarter UniMarter

With its alien-looking flowers, egg-shaped fruit and wandering tendrils, passionflower is one of the most unusual plants you'll ever come across in the U.S. Known botanically as Passiflora incarnata, passionflower is native to the southeast and mid-south regions of the United States. This climbing vine that so entranced Spanish missionaries in the 1600s can grow 30 feet long, inhabiting fence rows, woodlands and backyards alike.Traditional Medical Uses for PassionflowerNative Americans crushed passionflower's lobed leaves and applied them directly to the skin to ease bruises, cuts and other wounds. Infusions made from the leaves were used to treat ear infections, strengthen the blood and relieve stress. And until 1978, when the FDA pulled its support of the herb, it was included in many over-the-counter sleep aids.Passionflower TodayIn 1978, the FDA re-classified passionflower as a Class II herb, citing a lack of substantiated evidence that passionflower was effective as a sedative. But passionflower is still widely used in Europe where passionflower extract is frequently combined with extracts of other natural sedatives like valerian, chamomile and lemon balm.Today's herbalists use passionflower as a digestive aid, as a stress-reducer and as an insomnia treatment. Passionflower can be used fresh but it's more frequently dried for use in pills, teas and extractions like tinctures and infusions.Current ResearchThough passionflower is widely used, it's not been widely studied. But the few studies that have been done are encouraging. teksty European study of people with generalized anxiety disorder found that passionflower was as effective as prescription medications as relieving anxiety. And another study looking at treatments for congestive heart failure found that an extract of hawthorn and passionflower improved symptoms like shortness of breath.Other unproven uses for passionflower include opiate detoxification, ADHD and seizures.Lisa Barger is a traditional naturopath specializing in natural health education. ***Serrapeptase : Natures Anti-Inflammatory***

The five healthy volunteers who recently took part in clinical drug trials and sufferred terrible side-effects as a result of the trial were being tested for the treatment of leukaemia and auto-immune and inflammatory diseases. However mother nature has already provided a naturally occurring, physiological agent with no inhibitory effects called Serrapeptase.Serrapeptase is an enzyme which was originally discovered in the intestine of the silkworm and used for escaping from its cocoon.Today it is naturally processed through fermentation and made readily available in supplement form.Serrapeptase digests non-living tissue, blood clots, cysts, and arterial plaque and inflammation in all forms.Inflammation in the body is normally an important mechanism for protecting it from attack by invading organisms, faulty cells and trauma. However, when the immune system becomes dysfunctional, it loses its ability to differentiate between innocuous and potentially dangerous substances. This dysfunction results in a wide array of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, allergies, psoriasis, uveitis, multiple sclerosis and some forms of cancer. In spite of the huge range of successful enzyme studies showing safety and effectiveness, the standard therapy for inflammatory-mediated diseases and trauma include drugs such as steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs). These classes of drugs do in most cases offer temporary, symptomatic relief from swelling, inflammation and accompanying pain, but without treating the underlying condition.Serratia peptidase (Serrapeptase) was discovered in the early 1970’s and is now in wide clinical use throughout Europe and Asia as a viable alternative to drugs. It has no inhibitory effects on prostaglandins, is devoid of gastrointestinal side effects and offers a sensible alternative to drugs and medication.Only Enteric coated Serrapeptase tablets have been subject to the research showing excellent results. Capsules (which may not pass the stomach acid) are unlikely to be as effective unless the granules inside the capsule are enteric coated and contain 40,000iu of activity. The WonderCure website provides advice for following a holistic approach to your health and well-being. ***Chinese Herbs for Sinus Problems***

Many people suffer from chronic sinus problems. This can be due to allergies or this can be a residual symptom that lingers after a bout of cold or flu. Many people take antibiotics or antihistamines to clear up the issue, but sinus problems are often resistant to treatment with conventional medicine. Many times symptoms return soon after a course of conventional treatment. Chinese herbs can often clear up stubborn and resistant cases of sinus problems quite easily.Sinus problems due to allergies are treated by increasing a person’s resistance to allergens while also clearing a person’s blocked nasal and sinus passages. The Chinese herbal formula, Jade Windscreen Formula, is used long term to reduce a person’s tendency to have allergies. Jade Windscreen Formula contains astragalus, siler, and schizonopeta. Astragalus can improve a person’s resistance to allergies. Siler and schizonopeta are used to reduce allergic reactions such as sneezing, itchy eyes, rashes, and runny nose. Other herbs are used to open up blocked nasal and sinus passages and reduce the pain and pressure of sinus problems. The Chinese herbs, xanthium fruit and magnolia flower, are used for this purpose. Myrrh is also a good herb for clearing sinus congestion.Sinus problems that are due to a chronic infection after a cold or flu can be handled using a different set of herbs. Herbs that are antibacterial and antiviral, and herbs that clear phlegm are used in this case. The Chinese herbal formula, Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan, also called Clean Air Tea, can be useful for sinus infections. It can also be helpful for bronchitis. Another herbal formula, Long Dan Xie Gan Wan, is also frequently used, especially if the person has sinus and inner ear problems combined. These formulas are for short term use (2 weeks or less), and tend to work rather rapidly. Xanthium fruit and magnolia flower can still be used to clear nasal passages.Another method that can be helpful for people who have a tendency toward chronic sinus infection is to use herbs that cleanse the blood and the liver. Dandelion is a useful herb for this purpose. So are nettle leaves taken as a tea. Taking these herbs can help to reduce inflammation and acidity. These herbs can modulate immune response, while creating a less hospitable environment for viral and bacterial pathogens. As you can see, there are a number of herbs and herbal formulas that can help to clear up sinus problems naturally, even in situations that have been resistant to conventional treatment.Farah Khan is a doctor of oriental medicine and a licensed acupuncturist. ***Flexibility: An Important Component in Your Fitness Regimen*** unimarter UniMarter
***Flexibility: An Important Component in Your Fitness Regimen***

Flexibility, the ability of a joint to move freely through a full range of motion, is a key contributor in injury prevention and should be an important part of any fitness program. When performed regularly and correctly, flexibility can decrease the likelihood of injury and increase overall performance. Stretching is the best way to increase flexibility and should be performed daily to increase the range of motion of joints, decrease the probability of delayed-onset muscle soreness (soreness that appears 1-2 days after an intense workout), and enhance quality of life and graceful movement. Furthermore stretching can also assist in the development of motor skills, improve body positioning and strength for sports, and relieve aches and pains from stress or being in a stagnant position for a long period of time. Stretching is also a very important component of general fitness and wellness as we age.Factors Affecting FlexibilityFlexibility varies from person to person. Everyone has a specific predetermined range of motion and degree of flexibility. From this range, gains can either be made if stretching is performed correctly or lost if it is not maintained. Flexibility is joint specific. This means that a person can be flexible in one joint and at the same time lack flexibility in another. This makes determining or scoring an individual's overall range of motion very difficult. Some joints allow motion in only one plane such as flexion and extension, as the hinge joints perform in the fingers. On the other hand, ball and socket joints located in the shoulder and hip allow movement in many different directions, such as flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, internal rotation, and external rotation. The following factors can also affect flexibility:Heredity; Some people are born with joints, muscles, and tissues that are looser or tighter than the average individualLevel of physical activity; Usually with activity and training flexibility can be improvedJoint structure; The type of joint, and position of bones and tissues to one another, can affect the pull of muscles and your ability to stretch and gain flexibilityTendons, cartilage, and ligaments; teksty torn or stretched ligament or tendon can make a joint more flexible and even unstableLifestyle; teksty sedentary lifestyle or jobs that require long periods of sitting can decrease flexibility and lead to tightness over timeSkin; Skin thickness and scars can impede stretchingPrevious or current tissue or joint injury; Scar tissue, swelling, and previous surgeries can reduce the extensibility and movement of tissues and jointsAmount of adipose tissue (fat); Extra body fat will limit flexibilityBody temperature; Warmer bodies and muscles tend to be more flexibleAge; Children are usually more flexible than adultsGender; Women are often more flexible than menWhen designing a flexibility program you must take all these factors as well as the type of joint, the individual's goals, and lifestyle into account. Attempting to over stretch or increase range of motion in muscles or a joint that has an obstruction or barrier will only result in injury or damage to the individual. Additionally, stretching a joint that is damaged or has a large degree of laxity already will only harm the individual and predispose them to further injury. Hyperflexibility is the term given to flexibility beyond a joint's normal range of motion, and may predispose these individuals to subluxation and dislocation injuries.Approaches to StretchingThere are six main approaches to stretching: static, active, ballistic, dynamic, passive, and PNF stretching. All six are great contributors to increasing flexibility and can be effective when implemented in the correct situation and workout program. teksty solid routine will use an effective combination of stretching techniques to ensure appropriate maintenance and gains in lifelong flexibility.Static stretching involves a technique in which a muscle is stretched while the body is at rest. This stretch involves the individual slowly and gently taking the muscle to a point of resistance and discomfort and holding that position. For the best results static stretches should consist of 3 to 5 sets of 10 to 20 second holds. This method is probably the most popular and effective stretching method for increasing flexibility.Active stretching is a method in which you put yourself in a stretched position and hold it there with no assistance other than using the strength of your agonist (opposite) muscles. This method is based on the fact that when a muscle contracts the opposite muscle relaxes. An example would be contracting your toes and foot upwards towards your head, allowing the muscles in the back of your leg and calf to relax and stretch.Ballistic stretching is a technique in which muscles are stretched by an extreme force generated as the body part is repeatedly bounced, swung, or jerked. This type of stretching can be effective, but also dangerous as it can create injury. Because of the injury risk involved with ballistic stretching most fitness individuals do not recommend its use in a workout routine.Dynamic stretching is similar to ballistic stretching, except it is more controlled, gentle, and rhythmic. In dynamic stretching the body is warmed up gradually and flexibility is slowly gained and increased using a series of controlled reaches, bends, and swings through a full range of motion. teksty lunge is a good example of a dynamic stretch that when performed correctly can stretch multiple muscles in your legs and hips in one motion.Passive stretching is a technique in which muscles are stretched using an outside source or person. Having your body stretched by an outside force may occur during rehabilitative therapy when someone helps you stretch, when using devices designed to help athletes stretch, or by using your opposite hand to hold the body part in a stretched position.PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching involves muscles being stretched by the use of combinations of alternating contractions and stretches. This method is more complex and usually involves guidance and training from fitness professionals prior to performing. One of the most common PNF stretching techniques is the contract-relax-stretch method. This routine consists of stretching a muscle passively, then performing an isometric contraction of the same muscle while in a stretched position, relaxing the muscle, and then finally passively stretching the muscle again to a new length.Flexibility TidbitsMuscle tissue is the key to developing flexibility since it can be lengthened with regular stretchingteksty warm muscle may be as much as 20% more flexible than a cold oneDuring athletic participation it is best to stretch after a light warm-up, and then again following an after workout cool downAvoid severe painful stretching and breath holding during stretchesStretching multiple times per day is the best method to maintain and gain flexibilityIn the United States, approximately 80% of all low back problems stem from improper alignment of the vertebral column and pelvic girdle due to poor flexibilityABOUT THE AUTHORS:

***Muscle-Moving Machines Won't Make You Fit***

If you see ads for equipment that promises to make you fit by moving your muscles for you, save your money. Exercise strengthens your heart only when you do it vigorously enough to increase your heart rate at least 20 beats a minute above resting. teksty study done in 1998 showed why
passive exercise won’t make you fit. Men were asked to sit on a stationary bicycle with their feet on motor-driven pedals. When their feet were driven slowly, their hearts did not beat faster, but when their feet were driven at a high speed, their hearts did beat faster (Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, February 1998). However, this did not strengthen their hearts because the faster heart rate produced by the motor was
due to hormones such as adrenalin, rather than increased circulation of blood. Only increased circulation of blood strengthens your heart. To become fit, you must move your own muscles. Machines that move your legs or arms for you can be helpful in physical therapy, but they will not make you fit.Devices that send electric current to stimulate your muscles do not work, either. Several years ago the U.S. Federal Trade Commission charged marketers of widely advertised electronic abdominal exercise machinies with false advertising. The promoters claimed that that their devices would cause fat loss and inch loss, give users well-defined abdominal muscles, and were equivalent or superior to ordinary abdominal exercises, such as sit-ups or crunches. All of these statements were untrue. Your brain does send an electrical impulse along nerves that enter muscles to cause them to contract, but the electrical impulses generated by ab machines are so weak that they can't possibly cause contractions that strengthen muscles significantly. If they did give you enough electricity to strengthen your muscles, they would give you a very painful shock. You CAN strengthen your abdominal muscles with devices that help you exercise them against resistance, but even this will not get rid of belly fat. When you take in more calories than your body burns, you store the extra calories as fat . Some people store fat primarily in their hips, while others store their fat primarily in their bellies. More than half of the fat in your body is stored underneath your skin and over your muscles. Exercising a specific muscle does not get rid of fat over that muscle. If it did, tennis players would have less fat in their tennis arms, but they don't. Ab exercises can strengthen weak belly muscles, but they will not remove extra fat from your belly. People who store their excess fat primarily in the belly are at increased risk for heart attacks and diabetes. You get rid of belly fat with any kind of vigorous exercise and a sensible weight loss diet.Subscribe to my FREE weekly newsletter on fitness, health, and nutrition.Dr. Gabe Mirkin has been a radio talk show host for 25 years and practicing physician for more than 40 years; he is board certified in four specialties, including sports medicine. ***Meditate Your Way to Business Success***

Princeton University defines meditation as “continuous and profound contemplation or musing on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature; the habit of meditation is the basis for all real knowledge."It’s all about calming the mind to allow for greater inner perspective. The problem with meditation is that most people think of it as “sitting on a rock and humming OM for an hour.”In fact, meditation can be dynamic, moving, energetic and calming, all at the same time. Here are 4 examples of excellent meditative exercises1. Take a walk of about 1 to 2 miles. Go by yourself and don’t think about the walk or your day- to-day activities. Instead:* Notice your surroundings* Think about how you feel as you walk. What is your body doing? How does that affect you?* Focus on how you are breathing. Is it smooth or kind of jerky and irregular? What happens if you breathe really deeply while you’re walking?* Take a moment to appreciate anything beautiful you pass by. What do you see? How does that make you feel? You are now meditating. You are calm, focusing on things you have never noticed before and appreciating the moment. Please note the words “appreciating the moment.” It means living right NOW and not in a past that already happened or a future that is yet to come. This is your goal when meditating.2. Go play a round of golf. My personal favorite mediation exercise is golf. Oddly enough, golf is one of the best exercises you can do to expand and develop your creative mind potential.Just learn to think differently. Instead of worrying about how you’re going to play, notice your surroundings instead.Look at everything as if you were going to paint or photograph it. See the details of highlight and shadows. Notice the beauty of the garden you’re playing in. Bend down and notice a single blade of grass; realizing that it is life in and of itself.Don’t think about your swing. Just step up, relaxed, not worried about how you look and let it all go. Anytime the rational mind is out of the picture and feelings replace them you will hit much better shots.Between shots, don’t think about the shot that was or that shot that is coming. Spend time between shots enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Really notice the beauty that is all around you.
Realize that the next time you step up to the ball, the potential exists for something exceptional to occur. Before, during and after the round don’t tell yourself stories about how, why, what you are doing or wish you did.Just enjoy every moment. Remember, every hole (just like every day in your life) holds the potential of a fresh new start.3. Go out and take a few pictures. Noticing beautiful things all around you is also an excellent meditation. Go outside, somewhere you consider beautiful and bring your camera. Any kind of camera will do.Don’t think about anything except your surroundings. Breathe the air; notice how you feel in the beautiful outdoors. When you see something (anything) that catches your attention, go over to it for a closer look.Notice how light and shadows interplay. Focus on what you notice when you look at an object. Take a photo of what you actually see, not the entire scene.Again, noticing what is REALLY happening around you right NOW is the key to successful meditation.4. Begin your day by looking at your true goals in life. Write them down and read then aloud. Take 2 or 3 minutes to understand what achieving this goal will feel like to you. Then write down ACTION steps you can accomplish today, which will take you one step closer to that goal.Get used to experiencing NOW. As you get used to this idea, before starting your meditative activity, think about a challenge you want to solve or a new idea you want to create.Write down what you want to gain perspective on, contemplate it for a moment, then set it aside and start the activity. Follow the steps outlined above. As you notice your experience of RIGHT NOW, the answer to solve challenges or new inspiration will surface, seemingly out of nowhere. The quiet, relaxed mind, focusing on right NOW inspires you to new heights in creative thinking.New heights in creative thinking lead to exceptional ideas coming to the forefront; giving you a distinct competitive edge in both business and life.Take This ACTION Step 1. Go for a walk. Follow the advice in example 1.2. Play golf. with focus and purpose instead of apprehension of impending doom. Follow the advice in example 2.3. Take photographs in a beautiful place. Notice your surroundings. Open your awareness and then bring that back to your daily life in business. Paying attention to every moment, not worrying about a past or future is meditation at it’s finest. See article 3 for ideas.4. Begin your day looking at your true goals and passions in life. What can you do today to move one small step closer to them?Relaxing, opening your awareness to right NOW and focusing are the core principals of meditation. When that relaxed state of mind focuses on the talent and value you provide to other people amazing new ideas arise.Bill Gluth is a Human Touch Marketing Expert, professional speaker, trainer and consultant. ***Passive Smoking Effects*** Passive smoking is the involun unimarter UniMarter
***Passive Smoking Effects***

Passive smoking is the involuntary inhalation of cigarette smoke of other people's cigarettes. Passive smoking, secondary smoke, second hand smoke or environmental tobacco smoke all relate to the same thing – that being the involuntary inhalation of tobacco smoke. Cigarette smoke is generally defined as either the exhaled smoke from a smoker or the 'sidestream' smoke from the cigarette tip. It is made up of over 4,000 chemicals of which, 40 or so are known to cause cancer, including numerous hydrocarbons, arsenic and polonium.Smokers choose to inhale this noxious combination of chemicals and carcinogens but non-smokers do not. In the case of children or babies, there is normally no choice whatsoever and it is estimated that some 700 million children around the world are exposed to secondary smoke from the 1.2 billion smokers in the global population. It is well documented now that secondary smoke or passive smoking has some adverse affects on the passive smoker and most significantly when they are children. Indeed, in an extract from the 1997 Declaration of the Environment Leaders of the Eight (G8) on Children's Environmental Health, they stated;"We affirm that environmental tobacco smoke is a significant public health risk to young children and that parents need to know about the risks of smoking in the home around their young children. We agree to co-operate on education and public awareness efforts aimed at reducing children's exposure to environmental tobacco smoke."So, what evidence is the G8 working from and why should we care? Well, a review by the World Health Organization in 1998 concluded that passive smoking is a cause of bronchitis, pneumonia, coughing and wheezing, asthma attacks, middle ear infection, cot death, and possibly cardiovascular and neurobiological impairment in children. Furthermore, a report in 1992 by the Royal College of Physicians in London estimates that 17,000 under 5s are admitted to hospitals in the UK every year as a direct result of passive smoking.teksty report from Hong Kong in 2001 concluded that children living in homes where there are two or more smokers are 30% more likely to be admitted to hospital for treatment than those living in a smoke-free house.UK reports from 2000 and 2001 have found that environmental tobacco smoke has a detrimental effect on children of any age and also that asthma is more prevalent in smoking households. It is thought that between 1,000 and 5,400 new cases of asthma are solely attributable to passive smoking every year in the UK.teksty further report from Britain in 2006 linked smoking with a three-fold increase in the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), commonly called cot death. Many other studies have found environmental tobacco smoke exposure to directly correlate with increased incidences of ear infections, meningitis, mental impairment, autism, subdued vitamin C levels and poorer sense of smell and taste. On top of these malaises, there have also been found, links between childhood exposure to tobacco smoke and the risk of cancer in later life and with general malaise. teksty Norwegian study found that adults who had been exposed to smoke during their childhood had poorer attendance levels in their adult life at work.Studies in Britain have found that there is widespread acknowledgement that passive smoking is not only bad for children but also for adults. However, the specific risks that increase because of passive smoking are not well known. The majority of people cited chest infections and increased risk of asthma as the most common outcomes of passive smoking. Two more common outcomes of environmental tobacco smoke in infants are cot death and glue ear (ear infection), but this was not recognised by most respondents in the survey. Despite this, two thirds of smokers say that they do not smoke in the same room as children and a quarter state that they would smoke less in the company of a child because of their knowledge of the dangers of secondary smoke. In order to protect children, there are a number of things that parent should do to try and minimise their child's exposure to tobacco smoke:Smokers should try to smoke only outside. If you must smoke inside limit smoking to a room where you can open windows to allow adequate ventilation. Smokers should never smoke in a child's bedroom and must not allow anyone else to smoke there. Smokers should not smoke while washing, dressing or playing with children. Finally, smokers should never smoke in the car with the windows closed or open. Some children rights campaigners suggest that exposing children to cigarette smoke is a form of child abuse and should be punished accordingly. I am inclined to agree with them.Pete Howells owns the website http: / / easyquitsystem.com and has devised a simple system that will help any smoker quit by giving them the instructions they need to follow to achieve their ambition to quit. Please visit http: / / easyquitsystem.com to find out more about his incredible process for quitting smoking.

In the US it is estimated that 30% of the 570,000 cancer deaths in 2005 were caused by smoking. In the UK smoking kills approx. 114,000 per year or 300 per day which equates to 20%
of deaths.Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the US , UK & Australia.Approx. 45.4 million Americans are addicted to tobacco, 1 in 4 adults & 1 in 5 teens are smokers. In the UK smoking causes 80% of all lung cancers & 80% of all deaths from bronchitis & emphysema. 17% of deaths by heart disease are due to smoking. & 17% of cancer deaths are related to smoking. In Australia 20% of all deaths & 80% of lung cancers are caused by smoking.Smokers who smoke between 1 & 14 cigarettes a day are 8 times more likely to die from lung cancer. Smokers who smoke 25 or more a day are 25 times more likely to die from lung cancer.1 in 2 lifetime smokers will die from their habit & half of these in middle age.If you are not convinced to quit smoking by the statistics above then maybe if you knew how your smoking affected others, including your children, you might just change your mind.Approx 4000 deaths per year from heart disease in the US are due to secondary or passive smoking.Approx 3000 lung cancer deaths are caused by passive smoking.Children of smokers are at increased risk from asthma attacks, sudden infant death syndrome & middle ear infections.Pregnant women exposed to smoking are likely to have babies with lower weights.Children exposed to smoking are more likely to suffer from respiratory infections and have slower developing lungs.More than 17,000 children under the age of five are admitted to hospital in the UK every year due to the effects of passive smoking. So even if you can’t give up for yourself, how about for those around you AND especially your children.Giving up smoking is on of the most beneficial things you can do. Unfortunately the insidious nature of nicotine addiction makes giving up smoking one of the most difficult things you can do. In fact in the UK the Royal College of Physicians concluded in a report that nicotine addiction is as addictive as drugs such as heroin & cocaine. However there is some good news, 46 Million Americans are former smokers.John Mac is author & owner of http: / / www.fitnessdiethealth.com a website aimed at providing help & information for people looking to improve their fitness, diet & health & to quit smoking.

Most die from lung cancer, chronic obstructive lung disease (bronchitis and emphysema) and coronary heart disease, painful, long drawn out, messy deaths needing numerous operations, medication and hospital stays becoming more and more debilitated. An estimate by a joint ASH Medical Association in June 1999 put the number of UK men in their 30s and 40s, impotent as a direct consequence of smoking, at 120 000. Approximately 90% are unaware of the link. Cigarette packets now often warn of that risk. But it’s not just our own health at risk. More than 17,000 children under the age of five are admitted to hospital every year because of the effects of passive smoking. The baby has a much greater risk of suffering cleft palate, cerebral palsy, glue ear and infections, tonsillitis, asthma, coughs, croup, allergies, behavioural problems and reproductive problems later. Many cot deaths are attributable to parents smoking at home.44% of house fires are caused by cigarettes and the casualties are very often the children, trapped upstairs, overcome by smoke and unable to escape and unable to be rescued by their desperate parents below.Children learn by imitation and so are far more likely to smoke if their parents do. In the United Kingdom about 450 children start smoking every day and more than 80% of smokers began their habit as teenagers.Meanwhile, successful quitters have taken on average of 6 times to succeed and 20% have managed to give up first time. And according to ASH, the stop smoking charity, 21% of all women and 27% of all men in the UK are ex-smokers.So, if they can stop, so can you.Ask the successful quitters . . . it doesn’t have to be hard providing you find the right method and motivation for you. For many people, it’s hypnotherapy that does the trick. You can expect to become a non-smoker, rapidly and permanently in just one relaxing session with a clinical hypnotherapist. Alternatively, you can use hypnotherapy products at home to re-programme your unconscious mind and support you in achieving your goal.Lysette Offley is a clinical hypnotherapist running a thriving practice in Henley on Thames, England. She provides one-to-one therapy as well as downloadable home-use hypnotherapy products on her website. For more information visit: http: / / www.SoundsPositive.com

***Kundalini: An Intense Form of Vital Force Energy***

Generally a downfall connotes a bad meaning and to rise up means good. This principle is also applicable to the body especially as far as the vital force of the genital organs is concerned. By terming the Mooladhar Chakra as the female genital organ and the Sahasrar as the male genital organ no doubt only a symbolic analysis has been made but it is not so as far as actions are concerned. Instead of not wasting the Mooladhar energy in sexual passion it should be raised to the head region so that via proper meditation the eye of divine wisdom can be opened up. The sleeping Kundalini Shakti (Divine Serpent Power) wound around the Shivaling dwells there like a sleeping female snake. But when it evolves and rises up towards the head region she dwells in the grey matter of the brain i.e. in the subtle nerve network of Sahasrar Kamal. After a rise the small Shivling takes the form of a gigantic mount Kailash. It evolves further in the blooming 1000 – petal lotus called the Sahasradal Kamal. Thus one by one all the latent centers of the brain get activated. This is the magnification of the microcosm into the macrocosm. In this sort of a control it is very much required that support of the Merudand (subtle spine) be taken. If thus the conscious energy flow of the Sushumna can be used for higher sacred goals then the bliss of Brahman that one experiences is n-fold more than the joy of sense pleasures. Yogic exercises like Bandha, Mudra, Pranayam, Asan etc. are carried out for this very purpose. Via Sidhasan, Vajrasan, Shaktichalini Mudra, Bandhas, Prana Yoga etc. the energy of Mooladhar is activated / awakened and raised upwards so as to unite it with self fulfilled centers. But all these Hatha Yoga and Kriya Yoga practices are but the first step in Kundalini activation. Never should these be taken as the ultimate step in Kundalini activation and in fact it can be compared to merely the choke action of heating up a cold motor engine. This topic definitely needs clarification because Kundalini is also called Kaamabeej (seed of all desires and sexual passion). As a symbol the Shivling is reinstated. When the Shivling is bathed, the water vessel is placed on the tripod stand and one by one drops of water bathe the Shivling. In the woman’s genitals there is sexual passion. In the lower half of the male genital is the female genital. When both these opposites are activated there are incidences of sex conversion. The male becomes a female and vice versa. The reason is this that energy enters these latent areas. Sexual passion too manifests because of the above reasons. In order that this undesirable act does not manifest, nectar needs to be dripped in these regions from the head area. This nectar is called Soma Rasa. In the Soham spiritual practice of Khechri Mudra one gets to sip this Soma Rasa. When a tripod stand is used to bathe the Shivling its 3 legs represent the Ida, Pingala and Sushumna Naadis (subtle nerves). The bathing of a Shivling symbolizes Kundalini awakening. This symbolic description tells us that Kundalini’s Lord is the powerful Lord Shiva. Its place of residence should be looked upon as pure as the mount Kailash and the Manasarovar. It should not be lewdly looked upon as the genital organs of males and females. In fact by harboring sacred sentiments of its importance and purity one should perform spiritual practices so as to utilize it for higher spiritual goals. The endeavor of enterprise and artistic skills and actions and sentiments of beauty should not be dried up only in protection. Instead the Shiva energy of the Mooladhar Chakra present near the genital organs should be utilized for higher sacred spiritual goals.Certain people full of lewd imagination regarding the spiritual practice of Hatha Yoga discuss about “From sexual union to trance”. That is from “Sambhog say Samadhi Ki Ore.” They correlate it to the male’s phallus and the female’s vagina. This is just not correct and is in fact very vulgar, absurd and devoid of a proper sense of direction. In reality such lewd, vulgar observations should never touch such sacred areas like the head and the heart. By keeping it holy one should try and observe celibacy and thus raise it for higher goals. This should be observed both by males and females. The scriptural authors while discussing the nature of Kundalini have correlated it to artistic sexual skills. But its meaning is not sexual lust and in fact it means manifestation of vim and vigor in the body. Mooladhar Chakra is also called the seed of sexual passion and Sahasrar Kamal is the seed of divine wisdom. The purification-coordination of both results in discriminative activities. This divine power aids us in all round advancement of life, purification of one’s character and high idealistic thinking. Kundalini Yoga is that spiritual practice which helps in attaining spiritual ideals. In the Shwetashwatar Upanishad Kundalini is called “Fire of Yoga” or “Nachiketa’s Fire” and it is synonymous with the pure fire of a Yajna. It is said that in which ever body this fire of divinity is lit, there the body is disease free and the mind is absolutely serene. In “Chainik Yoga Pradeepika” I. Lohen has called it as “spirit fire” and has correlated it to the blazing fire of the soul. The great scholar of the Western School of Yoga, Sir John Woodroffe has called it “serpent fire”. The founder of Theosophical Society, Madam Blavatsky calls it “cosmic electricity” and says that its speed is 345,000 miles / sec.; whereas the speed of light is 195,000 miles / sec. The electrical waves have a speed of 299,000 miles / sec. According to great scientists the speed of thought waves is 7 times more than electric waves i.e. it is 2,265,120 miles / sec. In the flash moment of a thought one can circumambulate the earth 40 times.Despite being a spiritual power Kundalini definitely gets correlated to bodily electricity. Dr. Vasantji Rele in his book “The Mysterious Kundalini” calls it a nerve force. The introduction of this book has been written by Sir John Woodroffe. According to him where Rele correlates Kundalini with the right vagus nerve there he himself calls it a greater force. According to him Kundalini is a dynamic reality. It is a latent energy which by evolving (raising high) instead of the usual involution of matter one can radiate one’s character with divine glory. According to Vasant Rele Kundalini in a steady state is ordinary but when it takes up the kinetic form it becomes the vital force. According to him texts like Hathayoga Pradeepika, Shiva Samhita and Shatchakra Niroopan say that Kundalini is an individual form of the cosmos in which pervades great conscious power. The Western scientist Hudson who is also a scholar of Hathayoga says in his famous book “Science of Seer ship” that the magical power Kundalini should be activated only under the guidance of a great saintly preceptor and that the mind should be pure i.e. devoid of any desire. Else if the Kundalini moves downwards, it will lead to lust and attachment to sense objects. And then this power will be misused in activities like satisfying lowly desires and selfish needs.Jain Yogic teachers have named Kundalini as “Tejoleshya” and have given 2 ways of attaining it. The first method is to perform penance while taking very limited quantities of food and water. The second mode is to heat up one’s body with rays of the sun i.e. imbibing solar energy while meditating on the sun. The root source of Tejoleshya is said to be the subtle body. That center also belongs to Kundalini. Tejoleshya can also be said to be a form of Savitri worship. While discussing Kundalini Shakti, Yogic scientists say it is the “Voice of silence.” People know the influence of fire and electricity and make apt use of it. If they truly understand the use of spiritual and metaphysical fire one can attain innumerable Sidhis (divine powers) of the region of the soul.Dr. Scott says that this is a crystal with whose aid the transistor of our life functions. Anatomists describe it in their own way and they call the spinal cord and Mooladhar Chakra as “Ganglion Impar.” It is compared to a generator, dynamo, battery, magnet etc. Everyone accepts that it is a blazing pyre of the arena of sexual passion and that if it is raised higher, it gives that person extraordinary powers.Dr. Henry Lindal along with a description of the root source of cosmic conscious electricity and the electricity of the material world has also elucidated the electricity working in the human body. All round the earth present in the cosmos is spread the net of electromagnetic waves and this positive electricity has a force of 0.3 million volts. Every living being bears a pressure of 5 volts / meter. The micro part of this cosmic electricity dwells in the human body as Kundalini Shakti (Divine Serpent Power). Dr. Lindal has said that in the activities of human cells and nerves a great amount of electrical energy gets utilized. Its source is the brain and not the heart. It is the basis of commencement and end of our life. But this source is not unilateral. The brain grey matter situated at the top of the Merudand and the lower half of the Sushumna that corresponds to cada equina, produces vital force electricity. In the brain grey matter i.e. the reticular activating system there is a continuous overflow of electrical flames. teksty bigger part of this electricity is found in the southern pole which is also the center of sexual passion. Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama with the help of his AMI machine has found a dense proportion of this electricity in this point of focus. The reason why scientists have conducted a detailed research study on this center of sexual passion is because Kundalini is an important area of life’s movements. Because a new living being is full of means of producing new material, its power and importance in comparison to all organs is most sensitive and very potent. The make up of sacral plexus and cada equina is very intricate and important from the physiological viewpoint just like the brain. This fact has been presented variedly by Mr. Lee Sanela in his book “Kundalini – Psychosis and Transcedence”, Dr. C. Naranjo – R. Arnsteer in “Psychology of Meditation.”Dr. Carrington in his book “Modern Psychology and Indian Philosophy” has written that there are so many examples wherein it is witnessed that whether the body made up of vital force and molecules remains or nor yet its subtle existence continues. Despite being united to its body the authority-center of the vital force units remain intact in that area. Correlated to this find there is another discovery of Yogis wherein there is an emergence of ideoplasm or psychoplasm when the Yogi is in the highest states of meditation called Samadhi or trance. Scientists opine that it keeps getting emitted from the body in a steam like state and it is most found in the scalp area, tips of the fingers, lips, face, Naadi Chakra and around the genital organs. After the study and depiction (Kirlean photography of the “Biological Plasma Body” by the Russian scientist Semian Kirlean) this research activity with reference to the vital force of the subtle body – Kundalini has attained a great deal of fame. Emanueal Swedenborg calls it the visible cloud of ether wherein after usage of special filters it can be photographed with the aid of high voltage projection. Scientists opine that its appearance is akin to the net of a wasp and the smell of ozone. Its density increases / decreases due to corresponding increase / decrease of the life force. Sentiments can also increase / decrease its influence. Its proof of existence has been elucidated by Lyell Watson in his book “Super Nature” wherein even if a part of a person’s body is cut off yet this person experiences its presence in the form of pain, burning, scratching etc. In this incidence called “Phantom Limb Effect” it is proved that the subtle body exists as ectoplasm and it is this that gives a person the experience of sensation despite the gross nerves being absent.According to the books “Tibetan Book of the Dead” and “Chinese Book of the Soul” the gross body and vital body exist separately. No doubt both coexist side by side but sometimes the vital body gets separated so as to dwell elsewhere and that a new vital body comes into existence. Hence many a time man’s existence is experienced doubly.Dr. Seel and J. Taylor in their book “The Positive Sciences of Ancient Hindus” write that the rituals and spiritual practices of the Hindu religion utilize the vital body a great deal and hence are very potent. This vital body can be seen with divine eyes. Some years back an article on this topic was published in the magazine “Theosophist” under the title of “Anatomy of Tantras”.The Theosophist scientist C. W. Leadbeater has elaborated furthers on the 6 Chakras situated on the Merudand in his book “The Chakras.” He opines that the vital body is created out of a special type of electrical force and is present in the body just as a bird cuddles in its nest. Many other scientists call the Prana (vital force) as “Fire of Life”. The more this fire is present in a person’s body the more that person is conscious, enthusiastic, daring and radiant. But when there is a lack of it then even if the body is very well built yet this person will be a scare booby, lethargic and full of despair. This electrical force can be augmented with effort too. This is the reason why Yogic practices are encouraged. Kundalini Yoga is based on vital force science. The gist of Kundalini awakening involves attracting vital consciousness from the entire cosmos so as to unite this great consciousness with one’s own vital force and thus attain higher divine powers. Hence Yogic practices are encouraged so as to utilize these divine powers for higher sacred goals. This capacity increases in proportion to one’s mental control and due to wastage of this force this capacity decreases and ultimately gets destroyed.Jacob Boham is very well known amongst European Tantriks. The book “Theosophist Practica” authored by his German disciple George Michel advises that Kundalini awakening and the 6 Chakras should be kept a closely guarded secret. This is because if it gets into wrong hands, it can lead to the downfall of such a person. Because when such incapable people learn about Kundalini Science they “preach” it to others like blind men leading other blind men. Thus the so called preacher also falls like his so called “disciples.”AUTHOR: Shriram Sharma Acharya, founder of the International Gayatri Family, was a great Yogi, seer and incarnation of God who wrote volumes of scientific literature mainly on spiritual subjects for world welfare and peace. For more scientific e-books visit: http: / / www.shriramsharma.com / DESCRIPTION: Three free e-books on Indian Gayatri Science, Kundalini Yoga & Biography correlated to Neurosciences-ESP, Endocrinology, Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology & Sociology for 1) material & spiritual prosperity & 2) uniting the world peacefully as one family.

***The Characteristics And Goal Of Kundalini Oriented Spiritual Practices***

We are all well aware of attainments based on intellectual brilliance and sharpness of the brain. An intellectual, educated person generally succeeds in his area of specialization. Thus since everyone is aware of this fact, they use up a lot of their wealth and time for educating their children. Great Indian Rishis and Yogis say that the center of this intellectual brilliance is the Brahmarandhra in the brain. It is also called the nucleus of the brain. With its aid not only does the brain state gets influenced but that the door of give and take with the subtle world is thrown wide open, akin to the bond between the earth and other planets with the sun.The axis of the human body is said to be the Sahasrar Chakra in the Brahmarandhra (Brain area). This center not only influences the brain but decides its stature too. Further it opens the gateway of give and take with the cosmic consciousness by contacting it. Material and spiritual powers (Ridhi-Sidhi) can be attracted from this gigantic cosmos with the help of an activated Sahasrar Chakra. teksty tree attracts rains towards itself with its magnetic force. With its magnetic force, ore mines attract ores of its own kind towards itself and thus gets filled with it. Based on the type of magnetic force present in the Sahasrar Chakra, one can attract and collect that particular level of the invisible cosmic wealth. This very invisible attainment of one’s life creates wealth of the nature of one’s personality and that very stature. Thus it is the author of the creation of our character. This region is also the center of sense organ based knowledge and extra-sensory knowledge attained via a conscious and unconscious brain. It is from here that all spiritual practices like meditation, trance, self-reflection and Yoga of devotion etc. become more advanced so as to ultimately attain the goal. One’s Ojas (enterprise), Tejas (discrimination faculty) and Brahmavarchas (soul force) augment from this region.Another very important sexual center is “seed of sexual passion” dwelling in the root of the genitals that is similar to the South Pole. It is called the Mooladhar Chakra by Indian seers. Its utility and grandeur is of a very high stature. The brain is the source of knowledge and seed of sexual passion is that of capability. Soul force lies at the top and material power at the base. Emotions, thoughts, aspirations rain from above and enterprise, enthusiasm, fervour radiate from below. The upper center is the contact door of Brahma (creator) and the lower center is that of material nature or Prakriti. It is from these centers that give and take of various levels takes place. The upper region accepts and the lower region emits. The upper region has a mouth which partake food, water etc. Via the nose we breathe in air. The ears hear sounds and eyes see objects. Thus the knowledge based wealth of the brain augments. Since the head region accepts things it is called the North Pole. Its axis is the Sahasrar Chakra. We can directly visualize things being emitted from the lower region. It is from here that faeces, urine and sperm are emitted. Sexual passion manifests from this region and by dangling the carrot of a good feeling, it ensnares you in its net. Thus the net of marriage and children is woven. teksty major portion of life’s wealth is utilized for this purpose. One can directly see how the act of emission takes place in the South Pole with the help of the sexual center. Ojas (divine light) manifests in the body. If it is made more subtle and advanced, one can augment mental Tejas and soul based Varchas thus making man more enterprising. But what happens is that these divine glories on contacting the emissions of the sexual center tend to get scattered away to nought. As against this if man only observes bodily and mental sexual continence (Brahmacharya) so as to utilize this focused energy for artistic and sensitive purposes, what can he not attain? Yet because of dissipation, all this energy gets wasted. In fact he experiences hardships even for maintaining his body, hence what will be his condition if he has to make efforts for achieving higher spiritual goals? One of the miracles of the sexual center is that man can procreate children. Although it is God who creates all creatures, yet when we see man procreating another similar human being one yearns to call him a creator. It is indeed a miracle that man begets another human being from his own body. teksty magician manifests new objects from his hands, bags etc., yet none of them can create a human being. This miracle can only happen with the help of the sexual center of the human body. The sexual center does not merely manifest desire for sexual intercourse because it is known to manifest art, beauty, zest, zeal and other creative instincts too. The word “eunuch” is thought to be an insult. From the standpoint of health such people are deemed unfit for political jobs. They cannot enter the police, army, navy etc. While carrying out Shradha and Yajna rites “eunuch” priests are not allowed to take part in them. In a certain sense Lord Krishna has insulted Arjuna in the Bhagwad Geeta by calling him a “eunuch”. In the spiritual arena eunuch-like qualities are dryness, despair, inactivity etc. It is the center of sexuality that is held responsible for the rise and fall of such qualities. Procreation and other creative endeavours are related to this center of sexuality. Unification of many such facts prove that from the viewpoint of material prowess and success, how important is the Mooladhar Chakra in which lies the center of sexuality. Evolutionary scientists have labeled evolutionary inspirations as “sex” in the field of psychology. Over here “sex” does not mean sexual intercourse but connotes zeal, bliss etc.Mooladhar Chakra is the symbol of seed of sex and the seed of wisdom is represented by the Sahasrar Chakra. But these are extremely important centers of human existence. An important point to be noted over here is that from the anatomical science standpoint, it should not be looked upon as some special organ because all of these exist in a subtle form. No doubt one finds organs in the gross body that can be correlated to those of the subtle body. Thus a give and take relationship exists between the gross body and the subtle body. Yet both have a separate existence. On the one hand the heart is a center of blood circulation and on the other it manifests emotions like love, oneness, of soul etc. We are generally advised to meditate on the cave of the heart. This heart is not the organ of blood circulation but is a special conscious center of the subtle body. In the same way the Mooladhar and Sahasrar Chakra is not any special gross bodily organ. Yet, they may be correlated to some gross physical organ. Their importance is limited to influencing the presiding subtle energy when they are incited. In one’s spiritual practices these organs are made use of in some way or the other. They definitely help us to march ahead on the path of spiritual endeavours. When the Kundalini or Divine Serpent Power is activated the otherwise lax relationship between the material forces and soul forces of the Mooladhar and Sahasrar Chakras are made more intense. The process of give and take between these 2 intensifies. These 2 “lakes” are joined by the bridge called Merudand (subtle spine). It is called the royal path. It is called Mahaprayan or Devayaan. This is symbolically represented by the Pandavas ascending heaven.Kundalini Yoga is believed to be a spiritual practice that attains material and spiritual prowess. Kundalini or Divine Serpent Power activation encompasses the union of earth, which is a bodily power of Mooladhar and the sun of the Brahmarandhra in the Sahasrar Kamal. Between the Mooladhar and Sahasrar lie 5 more Chakras (subtle plexuses). Kundalini Shakti present in the Mooladhar Chakra activates these 5 Chakras before ultimately uniting with Sahasrar. As a result all Ridhi-Sidhis (divine glories) get activated. In order to activate the Divine Serpent Power present in the Mooladhar Chakra, various spiritual practices have to be undertaken. On the basis of various Vedic rites / rituals, spiritual seekers try to activate the 6 Chakras and raise their Divine Serpent Power upto the Sahasrar. They also take recourse to Pranayam (Yogic breathing), Pratyahar (cutting off the contact between sense organs and their objects), Dharana (one pointed focusing of mind), Dhyan (one pointed meditation) and Samadhi (trance). In all these spiritual practices it is one’s mental resolve (Sankalpa Shakti) that is made use of. With this power of resolve all those divine glories are attained which are described in Yogic texts. The power of man’s resolve is unlimited. If it is possible to activate it and make apt use of it, one can attain the impossible.“teksty creature can become a demi-god or an ascetic as per his wishes. It is man’s doership that can lead him up higher in life or create a downfall.”- YOGA VASISHTHA“Seven Rishis dwell in our body. They always protect the body with their pious deeds.”- YAJURVEDAVery few people pay heed to the fact that all divine powers are present in a latent state in man’s inner being. The sense organs of the body know only objects of the external world but they fail to experience the divine glories present in the cave of their souls. Our intellect revolves around attainments of the external world but fails miserably as far as understanding the nature, goal and true utility of life is concerned.“The Creator created sense organs that opened in the external world (i.e. the sense organs were externalized) and hence man tends to gaze outside. He fails to study his inner soul. It is only a very are farsighted individual, who aspires for the nectar of immortality and hence goes deep within his soul.”-KATHOPANISHAD (2 / 4 / 1)The main leg of the high leveled Gayatri worship is the activation of the 7 Chakras. These 5 sheaths and 7 Chakras are related to one another. Both types of spiritual practices succeed together. It encompasses divine practices, worship of Rishis, all-round advancement, goal of life etc. It is also said that –“Gayatri is that divine energy which activates all Chakras right from Mooladhar to the Brahmarandhra.”- TANTRA KAUMUDAIf only all the divine glories of the cosmos present in the soul are searched for and made apt use of, man can become God from a lowly creature. This research effort is called divine wisdom and the process of activation is called attainment of divine light. “Chakra activation” is a process whereby one activates the 7 Rishis and thus one attains great benefits due to their divine might. If we tend to emphasize only on the rites of Chakra activation and not add our power of resolve to it, our goal can never be attained. Alongwith power of resolve, a conducive atmosphere with reference to the sentimental level too will have to be created. The more one amasses earth element i.e. material wealth and sun i.e. soul or divine energy, to that extent one attains divine glories conjoined to Kundalini activation. Self-surrender is nothing but merging the limited ego into spirituality and bodily desires into soul based zest. In the spiritual arena this is called union of earth and the sun. Kundalini worship involves efforts that helps one reach this center of focus. One fact has 2 names called weakness and narrow-mindedness. Via Kundalini or Divine Serpent Power activation, the inner fount of energy is released and one imbibes all forces of the cosmos within one’s soul. This imbibing of powers is that capacity of a spiritual seeker which helps him manifest divine glories. No doubt there is a need and utility of bodily and mental spiritual practices, yet they are fulfilled only when one’s limited ego is merged into the all-pervasive cosmic soul i.e. God. To the extent one’s surrender is apt and deep, one attains spiritual success.Despite the fact that Kundalini power is only one, it fulfills goals of both the individual and the world in the form of consciousness and inert nature. Electricity of a power-house is of one single quality yet it manifests variedly in bulbs, heaters, coolers, ovens etc. The functions of all these have varied names and forms. The external forms of all these are so different that it is not possible to establish a relationship with one another. There is a great external difference as far as a fan rotating and a radio emitting sound. One machine is used to raise water to a higher level and another is used for melting ore. What a great difference. Yet it is one single electricity that helps in the functioning of these seemingly varied machines. In the same way Kundalini energy is one single cosmic life force full of intense power, yet it functions variedly in the inert material world and the world of consciousness. In the world of consciousness the Divine Serpent Power functions as birth, growth, old age and death of all creatures. These activities are either visible or invisible. The light of this great power is seen as desire, wisdom, action, nature, psychic imprints etc. The activities of Kundalini energy in the world of consciousness encompasses an admixture of the 5 great elements, unification of many classes of various energies and birth of various creatures in different species based on imprints of past actions. teksty divine existence is the cause behind various movements on earth in the inert world and known / unknown movements in space. As a result of these changes a lot of turbulence is induced in these areas. It is Kundalini or Divine Serpent Power that is at work as far as slow movements seen within atoms / molecules, movements of stars and galaxies, ebb and flow of ocean waves, earthquakes, seasonal changes, ether based activities etc. is concerned. If even for a micro-second Kundalini energy stops functioning, the entire cosmos will get destroyed. Everything will turn into lifelessness, darkness and gloom. All visible / invisible names and forms will get destroyed and thus nothing worth experiencing will remain behind.Suppose a piece of wood wishes to become a ball of fire, it will then have to give up its very existence. If a seed says I will not give up my name and form and yet desires to become a gigantic tree, it is totally impossible. Narrow mindedness has no place in the area of soul advancement. The more one is selfish and egoistic, the more hardships he faces as far as material and soul progress is concerned. Soul power does not exist but if one is selfish one fails to benefit from them. Life’s fulfillment lies in renouncing this limited ego. Without imbibing a traditional viewpoint, one can neither attain the goal of life nor can one succeed in activating one’s Divine Serpent Power.Augmentation in the realm of spiritual consciousness means intensifying the bond between the individual (micro) and the cosmos (macro) to such an extent, that they ultimately merge into one another. teksty living being is in essence a part of God. teksty “part” always wishes to merge into the “whole”. As long as this goal is not fulfilled the “part” experiences turmoil. The storehouse of water is the ocean. Clouds emanate from this ocean so as to give us rain. This rainwater collects as ponds, streams, rivers etc. and they in turn yearn to merge into the ocean. Whenever there is a slope, water tends to move in that direction. The goal of this slope and flow is to gather scattered water and transport it to the ocean. The aim of soul evolution is to speed up a living being’s desire to merge itself into God. Thus instead of being a limited, unfulfilled individual, it attains fulfillment by merging into the cosmic soul i.e. God.But the fact remains that majority of human beings lead lowly lives. In Indian Mythology they are called sinners or the downfallen ones. They say that evolution travels upwards and demotion leads us downwards. When bodily consciousness dwelling in the Mooladhar Chakra wishes to move upwards, it leads towards the Sahasrar Chakra. Soul advancement is nothing but the transformation of the seed of sexual passion into the seed of wisdom.Soul advancement encompasses many paths. Every effort that renounces individual selfishness is of this high stature. Soul progress means imbibing high ideals in one’s thinking, scheme of things and daily activities. Kundalini or Divine Serpent Power activation is a very scientific spiritual practice. It has its basis in science of the body and mind. Both the material and spiritual elements have an equal position in it.Ordinarily a living being is immersed in body consciousness i.e. it intensely identifies with its body. This has been depicted as Kundalini coiled around a Linga like a great serpentess with 3 ˝ rounds. Its mouth faces downwards and emits venom. This Linga is attracted to the material world. teksty living being is this great serpentess. As far as soul wisdom is concerned, it has no clue about it. It neither is aware of its true nature nor the goal of life. Having drunk the wine of delusion, it lies latent under the influence of spiritual ignorance. The 3 rounds represent desires, yearnings and ego. In between occasionally the thought of soul advancement too manifests. None can totally ignore the innermost voice of the soul. It will always demand attention despite the fact that at every step it is unheard. This is the ˝ round that is added to the 3 rounds of Kundalini or great serpentess coiled around the Linga. The mouth of Kundalini faces downwards which means it is in a fallen state. Our lowly desires and activities never allow our spiritual advancement. Our powers get demeaned and hence we remain fallen. Sperm ejaculation and other activities always create our downfall. Their dire results are like poison. It is apt that the fallen state of a creature is depicted as a sleeping serpentess. Our existence in this world is as fallen as a sleeping serpentess. Our creation is like poison. Our activities are like sowing seeds of venom that manifest more venom. Our state is that of a fallen man who has drunk the wine of delusion. When Kundalini awakens it leaves its latent state. It starts uncoiling / unwinding. It stands upright. It starts moving upwards along the Merudand (subtle spine). Instead of foul venom, its mouth now emits fragrance of nectar. This depicts our soul progress. Kundalini which rises up the Merudand ultimately unites with the great serpent in the Sahasrar. This has been depicted as the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. Sati went to her father’s place without Shiva’s consent and then she angrily gave up her body in the fire of Yoga. This is akin to a living being ignoring God and leading a downfallen life. Later the situation, changes. Sati is re-born as Parvati. Parvati performs austerities and then marries Lord Shiva. This is akin to a living being performing penance to purify his mind and thus ultimately unites with God.AUTHOR: Shriram Sharma Acharya, founder of the International Gayatri Family, was a great Yogi, seer and incarnation of God who wrote volumes of scientific literature mainly on spiritual subjects for world welfare and peace. For more scientific e-books visit: http: / / www.shriramsharma.com / DESCRIPTION: Three free e-books on Indian Gayatri Science, Kundalini Yoga & Biography correlated to Neurosciences-ESP, Endocrinology, Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology & Sociology for 1) material & spiritual prosperity & 2) uniting the world peacefully as one family.

***Life's Predictability***

It is a well-known fact that young children go through predictable stages. The times at which they potty train, walk, cut teeth, speak words, smile, read, write and then get pubescent cocky are all pretty precisely worked out. Parents need only pick up a book and all this development is laid right out in chart form. But it is not generally understood that such predictability continues on through adulthood. It’s easy to assume that once we’re in control as adults we can bend life in any direction and stop or start any stage we like. Not so. How we think and behave as adults and seniors, and the challenges we face, are equally well predicted. It is the reason age groups tend to focus on similar activities and have similar sentiments and problems.1-3Here are examples of some predictable adult stages:
· The desire for a career that will bring fame and fortune.
· The desire to have children and mold them into perfect creatures just like you.
· The shock that your children, who think you are the center of the universe, turn into teens who think they are.
· The disorientation of an empty nest when there are no longer little munchkins running around adoring you.
· Mid-life crisis when it is realized you are not immortal.
· Health and body failing with age regardless of the best efforts to avoid it.
· The realization that you are ultimately alone.
· Concern about future security for retirement.
· Desire for legacy.
· The nagging of conscience for all the foolish things done in the past.
· Difficulty in managing all the things accumulated in life.
· Expect respect from the young whippersnappers.
· Desire simplicity and freedom from so much responsibility.
· Become cynical toward those with less life experience.
· Difficulty finding things in life that are fantastic and exciting.
· Realize that you are not as special as you once thought.
· The desire to be close to family, home and community.
· The discovery that all of your big plans in life were really quite silly and only love and goodness are important. So don’t be surprised by the turns life takes and discovery that the new trails you think you are blazing have already been well trodden. This is a reason to observe and listen to the older generation to see what lies in store. Also, don’t be shocked when what you thought was forever suddenly ends or what you never imagined would happen, does. We will be chagrined more than once in life finding ourselves doing things, behaving and thinking just like the older folk we said we would never be like.Welcome life’s new doors and determine to make each entrance, sojourn and exit the best it can be. It is the twists, turns, peaks and valleys that create the opportunity for us to grow and show our mettle. Also note that when all is said and done, the sense of goodness we knew was important in our earliest, self-aware, childhood memory ends up being the only thing worth pursuing throughout all of life. ***The Rite of Passage***

Writer Poet McCullough offers the reader a meandering poem beginning with ?Translations from the writings of Iyouhesheit Weyoutheyme.? McCullough provides insight into life: at any moment of the day there is life.
Our emotions are explored before the writer leads the reader into a glimpse into the life most of us share: ?Born of a lineage of emigrants?? and McCullough guides us along a journey our ancestors chose.?Religion? is investigated before McCullough steers our thinking to the present: ?I add to my generation, but remain within my own life.? Turning to new sentiments McCullough shows the reader how The planet where we live transforms. I especially enjoyed the refrain dealing with Conversation of weather. A conflict of values is presented in lines meant to be read, and then read again. While the notion that each Season is made for another. The lines delving into I: I of creatures, I of spirit, I of person I of myself, I of communities and farms and ? give the reader a peek into ourselves in ways we may not have thought to explore before. Predilection that Time has no emotion or that people while the same are all different at the same time is not an easy concept to grasp. Land, millions of acres is presented along with the poet?s thoughts dealing with Personal commitment and inherent trust. A Love of being alive and simple pleasures of a day round out the work. ?If? leads the reader into considering many thought provoking tenets. If there were no written words? The Rite of Passage extends to the reader a touching, momentary view into one man?s introspection as he investigates an abundance that life has to offer. Most of us never reach so deep within ourselves to bring forward what may be the foremost of what make us human. Writer / Poet McCullough adroitly captures matchless and bittersweet significance in this ardently written, thought provoking work. The measure and accustomed language used by the writer bestows magnificent cadence to the reading. Unassuming but puissant in significance and sentiment presented in an uncomplicated style; The Rite of Passage is enhanced by extension, showcasing a sequence of stirring reflections. The free verse format is excellent here and effect space for the reader to participate in the emotions stirred by the poet?s muse. Charming verse with sweeping appeal. I like the fervent explicitness of this distinctively expressed, refreshing write. The flow is as the current running over a well worn riverbed in this eminent rhetoric.A stimulating read offered by a talented writer / poet; The Rite of Passage is a reflective, perspicacious work with many messages imbedded in it. ***Book Review: Seth Godin - All Marketers Are Liars***

Let me start with a small disclaimer: I am a HUGE fan of Seth Godin, and have been ever since he wrote Permission Marketing and probably always will be. Seth has a very unique take on traditional marketing (he thinks it's dead) and I agree with him. A nice summary of stuff Seth knows was kindly put together by Aaron Dignan at Brandplay.comThat being said, I felt it would be worthwhile to blog a bit about Seth's new book so you can decide for yourself whether or not you want to get his book. That being said, on with the post...Marketers aren't really liars. Consumers are. Consumers tell themselves story based on the marketing message they hear, filtered through their own lenses, and believe the marketing they hear IF an authentic message is told. Here's what I learned:
You must have a product that delivers on your story if you want long-term success
You need to start at the fringes to build passionate users, have these early adopters tell your stories, then you can move a bit to the middle to reach more
You only tell your story once. Passionate users continue to tell your story, whether you want them to or not, so you might as well embrace them.
You will not reach everyone, so don't try to. Mass messages are too watered down and are not authentic enough to get viral and spread enough to make it worth your while
Those are the big takeaways I got from Seth's book. You can read his blog at allmarketersareliars.com or buy the book from the world's greatest online bookstore, 800CEOREAD.com.I hope you'll make your own judgment about this book and check it out for yourself. If not, that's fine too. Maybe this book wasn't meant for you.Phil Gerbyshak leads a team as manager of an IT Help Desk in Milwaukee, WI, and finds that sharing his knowledge is a crucial component for in his success as a leader and as a person. ***CCNA / MCSE / CCNP Certification: Making Failure Work For You***

Whether you're on the road to the CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, or you're on any other computer certification track, the odds are that sooner or later, you're going to fail an exam. It's happened to almost all of us, yours truly included. What you have to keep in mind in these times is that success is not a straight line. You've probably seen charts showing the growth of an industry or a business -- you know, the ones that go from left to right, and look kind of jagged. The line goes up for a while, then down a bit, then up some more, then down a little. The key? While every business has its setbacks, the net result is that the line goes up and progress is made. That's how you want your certification pursuit and your career to go as well - upward!I'm not asking you to be happy about failing an exam. You're allowed to get mad for a few minutes, vow to never take another exam again, and be disappointed. What you're not allowed to do is stay that way.If you put your books away in a fit of anger, get them out. If you took some time off, it's time to get back to work. Again, there's nothing wrong with being unhappy about failing an exam. It's how you handle that failure that counts. No inventor, executive, or entrepreneur has ever been right 100% of the time. Learn something from your failure. Was your study time quality study time? Did you get some hands-on practice with the technology you're studying? Asking yourself these questions can be tough, but it can be highly valuable in making sure you don't fail the next time. And there must be a next time - because the one thing you cannot do is quit.Besides, take it from someone who's been there - your temporary failure makes your eventual success that much sweeter.Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933 , is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of free CCNA and CCNP tutorials, The Ultimate CCNA Study Package, and Ultimate CCNP Study Packages. You can also join his RSS feed and visit his blog, which is updated several times daily with new Cisco certification articles, free tutorials, and daily CCNA / CCNP exam questions! ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam Tutorial: ISDN And Multilink PPP***

ISDN is a huge topic on both your Cisco CCNA and BCRAN CCNP exams. While many ISDN topics seem straightforward, it?s the details that make the difference in the exam room and working with ISDN in production networks. Configuring and troubleshooting multilink PPP is just one of the skills you?ll need to pass both of these demanding exams. With BRI, we've got two B-channels to carry data, and both of them have a 64-kbps capacity. You might think it would be a good idea to have both channels in operation before one reaches capacity, and it is a great idea Problem is, it's not a default behavior of ISDN. The second b-channel will not begin to carry traffic until the first one reaches capacity. With Multilink PPP (MLP), a bandwidth capacity can be set that will allow the second b-channel to bear data before the first channel reaches capacity. The configuration for MLP is simple, but often misconfigured. We'll use our good friend IOS Help to verify the measurement this command uses.Enabling MLP is a three-step process:Enable PPP on the linkEnable MLP with the command ppp multilinkDefine the threshold at which the second b-channel should start carrying data with the dialer load-threshold command.Let's say you wanted the second b-channel to start carrying data when the first channel reaches 75% of capacity. It would make sense that the command to do so would be dialer load-threshold 75... but it's not.R1(config)#int bri0R1(config-if)#ppp multilinkR1(config-if)#dialer load-threshold ? Load threshold to place another callThe dialer load-threshold value is based on 255, not 100. To have this command bring the line up at a certain percentage, multiply that percentage in decimal format by 255. Below, I multiplied 255 by .75 (75%) to arrive at 191.R1(config-if)#dialer load-threshold 191 ?either Threshold decision based on max of inbound and outbound trafficinbound Threshold decision based on inbound traffic onlyoutbound Threshold decision based on outbound traffic onlyR1(config-if)#dialer load-threshold 191 eitherAs illustrated by IOS Help in the above configuration, dialer load-threshold has additional options as well. You can configure the interface to consider only incoming, outgoing, or all traffic when calculating when to bring the next channel up.Configuring Multilink PPP is just one of the skills you?ll need to earn your CCNA and pass the CCNP BCRAN exam. ***Cisco CCNA Certification Exam Tutorial: Port-Based Authentica unimarter UniMarter
***Cisco CCNA Certification Exam Tutorial: Port-Based Authentication***

To pass your CCNA exam and earn this coveted certification, you must understand the details of port-based authentication. This knowledge has a great deal of value in production networks as well, since this authentication scheme is regularly implemented. Let's take a look at this particular CCNA skill.Consider a situation where you have a server that will be connected to your switch, and you want the port to shut down if a device with a different MAC address that that of the switch attempts to connect to that port. You could also have a situation where you have someone who has a connection to a switch port in his office, and he wants to make sure that only his laptop can use that port. Both of these examples are real-world situations, and there are two solutions for each. First, we could create a static MAC entry for that particular switch port. I don't recommend this, mainly because both you and I have better things to do than manage static MAC entries. The better solution is to configure port-based authentication on the switch. The Cisco switch uses MAC addresses to enforce port security. With port security, only devices with certain MAC addresses can connect to the port successfully. This is another reason source MACs are looked at before the destination MAC is examined. If the source MAC is non-secure and port-based authentication is in effect, the destination does not matter, as the frame will not be forwarded. In essence, the source MAC address serves as the password.MAC addresses that are allowed to successfully communicate with the switch port are secure MAC addresses. The default number of secure MAC addresses is 1, but a maximum of 132 secure MACs can be configured. When a non-secure MAC address attempts to communicate with the switch port, one of three actions will occur, depending on the port security mode. In Protect mode, frames with non-secure MAC addresses are dropped. There is no notification that a violation has occurred. The port will continue to switch frames for the secure MAC address. In Restrict mode, the same action is taken, but a syslog message is logged via SNMP, which is a messaging protocol used by Cisco routers. In Shutdown mode, the interface goes into error-disabled state, the port LED will go out, and a syslog message is logged. The port has to be manually reopened. Shutdown mode is the default port-security mode.Port-based authentication is just one of the many switching skills you'll have to demonstrate to earn your CCNA certification. Make sure you know the basics shown here, including the action of each particular mode, and you're on your way to CCNA exam success!Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933 , is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of free CCNA and CCNP tutorials, The Ultimate CCNA Study Package, and Ultimate CCNP Study Packages. You can also join his RSS feed and visit his blog, which is updated several times daily with new Cisco certification articles, free tutorials, and daily CCNA / CCNP exam questions! ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Tutorial: Frame Relay End-T unimarter UniMarter
***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Tutorial: Frame Relay End-To-End Keepalives***

One of the first things you learned about Frame is that the LMI also serves as a keepalive, or a heartbeat - and if three consecutive LMIs are missed, the line protocol goes down. There's a limitation to LMI as a keepalive, though. The LMI is exchanged only between the DTE and the closest DCE. The LMI is therefore a local keepalive that does not reflect any possible issues on the remote end of the virtual circuit.Taking the LMI concept to the next logical level, Frame Relay End-To-End Keepalives (FREEK, one of the least-heard Cisco acronyms for some reason) are used to verify that endpoint-to-endpoint communications are functioning properly. What you have to keep in mind about FREEK is that each and every PVC needs two separate keepalive processes. Remember, with a PVC, there's no guarantee that the path taking through the frame relay cloud to get from R1 to R2 is going to be the same path taken to go back from R2 to R1. One process will be used to send requests for information and handle the responses to these requests; this is the send side. When the send side transmits a keepalive request, a response is expected in a certain number of seconds. If one is not received, an error event is noted. If enough error events are recorded, the VC's keepalive status is marked as down. The process that responds to the other side's requests is the receive side. This being Cisco, we've got to have some modes, right? FREEK has four operational modes.Bidirectional mode enables both the send and receive process enabled on the router, meaning that the router will send requests and process responses (send side) and will also respond to remote requests for information (receive side).Request mode enables only the send process. The router will send requests and process responses to those requests, but will not answer requests from other routers.Reply mode enables only the receive process. The router will respond to requests from other routers but will initiate no requests of its own. Finally, passive reply mode allows the router to respond to requests, but no timers are set and no events are tracked.Frame Relay End-To-End Keepalive defaults:Two send or receive errors must be registered in order for the VC to be considered down. The event window size is three. The event window is the number of events considered by the router when determining the status of the VC. Therefore, using the defaults, two send or receive errors would have to be received within the event window of three events for the VC to be considered down. The timer mentioned earlier - the amount of time a router waits for a response - is set to 10 secondsWorking with Frame Relay end-to-end keepalives is just one Frame skill you?ll need to pass the CCNP exams ? and I wouldn?t be surprised to see them on a CCIE exam. ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam Tutorial: Dialer Watch* unimarter UniMarter
***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam Tutorial: Dialer Watch***

Dialer Watch is a vital part of your CCNA and CCNP studies, particularly for the BCRAN exam, but it's one of the most misunderstood technologies as well. To help you pass the CCNA and CCNP certification exams, here's a detailed look at Dialer Watch.Dialer Watch allows you to configure a route or routes as "watched" when the watched route leaves the routing table and there is no other valid route to that specific destination, the ISDN link will come up. In the following example, R1 and R2 are connected by both a Frame Relay cloud over the / 24 network and an ISDN cloud using the / 24 network. The routers are running OSPF over the Frame cloud, and R1 is advertising its loopback of / 32 as well as an Ethernet segment, / 24, via OSPF. R2 has both of these routes in its OSPF table, as shown below.R2#show ip route ospf1.0.0.0 / 32 is subnetted, 1 subnetsO [110 / 65] via, 00:00:07, Serial010.0.0.0 / 24 is subnetted, 1 subnetsO [110 / 128] via, 00:00:08, Serial0We want R2 to place a call to R1 if either the loopback or Ethernet networks leave R2's routing table, but we don't want to have to depend on interesting traffic. That dictates the use of Dialer Watch.First, configure the list of watched routes with dialer watch-list. Only one of the watched routes needs to leave the routing table for the ISDN link to come up. In this example, R2 will watch both routes from its OSPF routing table.Be careful with this command. The entries here need to match exactly the routes and masks being watched. Dialer watch-lists use subnet masks, not wildcard masks.R2(config)#dialer watch-list 5 ip watch-list 5 ip the dialer watch-group command on the BRI interface, AND frame map statements for the watched routes. As with dialer-list and dialer-group, the group number referenced in the dialer watch-group command must match the number assigned to the dialer watch-list.The Dialer Watch configuration will not work without frame map statements for each watched route. I repeat this because this is the step a lot of people leave out.R2(config)#interface bri0R2(config-if)#dialer watch-group 5R2(config-if)# dialer map ip name R1 5557777 broadcastR2(config-if)# dialer map ip name R1 5557777 broadcastTo test Dialer Watch, the Serial0 interface on R2 will be shut down. ***How to Pass the MCSE 2003*** When I started down the cert unimarter UniMarter
***How to Pass the MCSE 2003***

When I started down the certification path towards my MCSE 2003, I really didnt know where to start. Of course, as a helpdesk support person for 2 years I knew that being MCSE 2003 Certified would increase my chances of being promoted to a systems administration job or securing a new, higher paid role with another company. So I first went to Microsoft's MCSE Certification website to find out which exams I needed to pass. Sure, I wanted to pass these MCSE 2003 exams, but I didnt want to cheat using braindumps which are not only illegal, but I think defeat the whole purpose of being MCSE 2003 Certified in the first place. What I wanted was the pass my MCSE 2003 exams, but actually UNDERSTAND and LEARN the material, so that way, I could hold my head up high, knowing that my skills would match my MCSE 2003 status.Once I knew which exams I had to pass, I went out and searched the web for more information about each exam. I bought the core set of MCSE 2003 Microsoft Press books from Amazon, but in all honesty, they werent a lot of help. I also bought a few exam preparation software packages, which did help somewhat, but only for last minute revisions...as study and learning material they were grossly ineffective. It took me a while to find the right information, but finally I came across the CBT Video site, Winstructor.Com. Actually I cant take all of the credit for it, one of our systems administrators recommended them. So I signed up to Winstructor for 12 months and downloaded their MCSE 2003 Training Videos. Now this is what I had been missing. As far as training goes, I am a convert to CBT, or Computer Based Training. The thing I liked about these videos was that I could watch them over and over until I fully understood what is being taught. During the time that I was watching these videos, I did have a couple of questions relating to different exams. Not only did Winstructor support take the time to answer my questions, which they didnt have to do, but they also gave me the ultimate piece of advice."When studying for your MCSE 2003, pick one exam, concentrate on it and forget the others exist. Once you've passed it, only then move onto the next"Whilst this sounds quite obvious, there I was, wasting my time reviewing subjects that were'nt being tested. Only once it was mentioned to me, did I realize what I was doing and focused on the immediate goal of the exam I was trying to pass.So if you want to pass your MCSE 2003 like I did, here is what I recommend.* Visit Microsoft.Com and create a list of the exams that you need to study for and pass.* Sign up to Winstructor.Com for 12 Months and download their videos.* Pick 1 exam, only 1, and concentrate on it. Dont be tempted to look at the others.* When you watch the Winstructor Videos, have 2 computers or a copy of Microsoft Virutal PC handy and Lab out what you're learning. You'll be so surprised at how much more you'll retain and understand about what you're learning.* If you do fail an exam, get over it, move on. Its not the end of the world. No-one but you will know, so study the areas where you went wrong and you'll be fine the next time around. I found that the areas I did poorly on are now some of my best subjects since I took the time to really learn them and that learning sticks in your memory.* Enjoy learning and studying for your MCSE 2003. If you dont like learning about IT, then maybe you're in the wrong job.Best of luck in your exams.About the Author: Jason Stan regularly reviews Computer Based Training and some of his reviews can be found at http: / / www.CBTReview.Com. ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam Tutorial: Configuring PPP Callback***

You may run into situations where a router in a remote location needs to dial in to a central router, but the toll charges are much higher if the remote router makes the call. This scenario is perfect for PPP Callback, where the callback client places a call to a callback server, authentication takes place, and the server then hangs up on the client! This ensures that the client isn't charged for the call. The server then calls the client back.In the following example, R2 has been configured as the client and R1 is the callback server. Let's look at both configurations and the unique commands PPP Callback requires.Client:username R1 password CCIEinterface BRI0ip address pppdialer map ip name R1 broadcast 5557777dialer-group 1isdn switch-type basic-nippp callback requestppp authentication chapMost of that configuration will look familiar to you, but the ppp callback request command might not. This command enables the BRI interface to request the callback.Simple enough, right? The PPP Callback Server config requires more configuration and an additional map-class as well.Server:username R2 password CCIE

If the remote router cannot be authenticated for callback, the incoming call will be disconnected. The dialer map statement now calls the class CALL_R2_BACK, shown at the bottom of the config excerpt.ppp callback accept enables PPP callback on this router.dialer callback-server username tells the callback server that the device referenced in the dialer map statement is a callback client. The only way to find out if the config works is to test it, so let's send a ping from R2 to R1 and see if the callback takes place.R2#ping escape sequence to abort.Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to, timeout is 2 seconds:02:45:42: BR0 DDR: Dialing cause ip (s=, d= BR0 DDR: Attempting to dial 555777702:45:42: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to up02:45:42: BR0:1 DDR: Callback negotiated - Disconnecting now02:45:42: BR0:1 DDR: disconnecting call02:45:42: %ISDN-6-CONNECT: Interface BRI0:1 is now connected to 5557777 R102:45:42: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to down02:45:42: DDR: Callback client for R1 5557777 created02:45:42: BR0:1 DDR: disconnecting call.....Success rate is 0 percent (0 / 5)R2#02:45:57: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to upR2#02:45:57: BR0:1 DDR: Callback received from R1 555777702:45:57: DDR: Freeing callback to R1 555777702:45:57: BR0:1 DDR: dialer protocol up02:45:58: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface BRI0:1, changed state to upThe callback was successfully negotiated, and the call then disconnected. ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam Tutorial: Floating Static Routes***

To pass the Cisco CCNA and CCNP certification exams, as well as becoming a world-class networker, you've got to know how and when to use floating static routes. And if you're wondering what makes them "float" -- read on!In this example, R1 and R2 are running OSPF over a Frame Relay network, / 24. They're also connected by a BRI ISDN link, / 24. R1 is advertising a loopback network, / 32, via OSPF. We want R2 to have a route to that loopback even if the frame goes down - and here, we'll use a floating static route to make that happen.R2 sees the route to the loopback interface via OSPF, and can ping that interface successfully.R2#show ip route ospf1.0.0.0 / 32 is subnetted, 1 subnetsO [110 / 65] via, 00:00:02, Serial0R2#ping escape sequence to abort.Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to, timeout is 2 seconds:!!!!!Success rate is 100 percent (5 / 5), round-trip min / avg / max = 68 / 68 / 68 msThis is when it's important to know your administrative distances.... or at least know where to look to see them! The AD of OSPF is 110, which means we can configure a static route to / 32, and as long as the AD of the static route is higher than 110, it won't be used unless the OSPF route leaves the routing table. That's why this kind of route is called a "floating" static route - the route "floats" in the routing table and isn't seen unless the primary route leaves the table. You learned how to write a static route in your CCNA studies, but you also remember that the default AD of a static route is either 1 or 0... and both of those values are less than 110! To change the AD of a static route, configure the desired distance at the end of the ip route command.R2(config)#ip route bri0 ? Distance metric for this routeA.B.C.D Forwarding router's addressname Specify name of the next hoppermanent permanent routetag Set tag for this routeR2(config)#ip route bri0 111The static route has an AD that's only one higher than that of the OSPF route, but that's enough to make the route "float" and not yet be seen in the routing table.R2#show ip route1.0.0.0 / 32 is subnetted, 1 subnetsO [110 / 65] via, 00:06:44, Serial0172.12.0.0 / 24 is subnetted, 2 subnetsC is directly connected, BRI0C is directly connected, Serial0Let's see the effect on the routing table when the Serial0 interface is closed.R2(config)#int s0R2(config-if)#shutdown12:04:53: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr on Serial0 from FULL to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Interface down or detached12:04:55: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console12:04:55: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Serial0, changed state to administratively down12:04:56: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0, changed state to downR2#show ip route1.0.0.0 / 32 is subnetted, 1 subnetsS is directly connected, BRI0172.12.0.0 / 24 is subnetted, 1 subnetsC is directly connected, BRI0The floating static route appears in the table, but the ISDN link will not come up until the BRI interface has traffic to send. Let's ping and see what happens. debug dialer was configured on R2 before sending the ping.R2#ping escape sequence to abort.Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to, timeout is 2 seconds:12:16:01: BR0 DDR: Dialing cause ip (s=, d= BR0 DDR: Attempting to dial 835866112:16:01: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to up.!!12:16:01: BR0:1 DDR: dialer protocol up!!Success rate is 80 percent (4 / 5), round-trip min / avg / max = 36 / 37 / 40 msThe link comes up and traffic can still reach Once R2 becomes an OSPF neighbor of R1 again, the OSPF route will again become the primary path and the floating static route leaves the routing table.R2(config)#int s0R2(config-if)#no shutR2#show ip ospf neighborNeighbor ID Pri State Dead Time Address Interface172.12.123.1 1 FULL / DR 00:01:57 Serial0R2#show ip route1.0.0.0 / 32 is subnetted, 1 subnetsO [110 / 65] via, 00:00:16, Serial0172.12.0.0 / 24 is subnetted, 2 subnetsC is directly connected, BRI0C is directly connected, Serial0A floating static route is an excellent "back door" that will keep the ISDN link down while allowing that link to serve as a backup route. Just make sure the ISDN link comes down when you expect it to - always check that with show isdn status!Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933 , is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of free CCNA and CCNP tutorials, The Ultimate CCNA Study Package, and Ultimate CCNP Study Packages. You can also join his RSS feed and visit his blog, which is updated several times daily with new Cisco certification articles, free tutorials, and daily CCNA / CCNP exam questions! ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Exam Tutorial: Testing ISDN Links Without Pings***

To earn your Cisco CCNA and CCNP certifications, you've got to master ISDN - and despite what some people say, there's still a lot of ISDN out there that needs to be supported. And when it comes to troubleshooting ISDN, there's a lot to look at. Is the correct ISDN switchtype configured? Are the dialer map statements correct? What about the dialer-group and dialer-list commands? And that's just the start.I always say that all troubleshooting starts at Layer 1, the Physical layer of the OSI model. The usual method of troubleshooting ISDN is sending pings across the link, but the connection can be tested without using pings or even before assigning IP addresses to the BRI interfaces! It's a good idea to place these test calls before configuring the interfaces - that way, you know you've got a valid connection before beginning the configuration (and there's a lot of config to go along with ISDN!)To place a test call without using pings, use the isdn call interface command.R1#isdn call interface bri0 8358662R1#03:54:43: BR0 DDR: Attempting to dial 835866203:54:43: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to up03:54:44: BR0:1 DDR: dialer protocol up03:54:45: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface BRI0:1, changed state to up03:54:49: %ISDN-6-CONNECT: Interface BRI0:1 is now connected to 8358662 R2To tear the test call down correctly, use isdn disconnect interface. IOS Help displays the options with this command.R1#isdn disconnect interface bri 0 ?all Disconnect the data call(s) on all b channelsb1 Disconnect the data call on b1 channelb2 Disconnect the data call on b2 channelR1#isdn disconnect interface bri 0 all03:58:36: BR0:1 DDR: disconnecting call03:58:36: BR0:2 DDR: disconnecting call03:58:36: %ISDN-6-DISCONNECT: Interface BRI0:1 disconnected from 8358662
R2, call lasted 20 seconds03:58:36: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to down03:58:36: BR0:1 DDR: disconnecting call03:58:37: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface BRI0:1, changed state to downI say "correctly" because the one thing you don't want to do to end an ISDN call, test or otherwise, is just shut the interface. Telcos don't like it, and ISDN lab devices like it even less. Always let the d-channel do its work and tear the call down in an orderly fashion - don't just cut it off by shutting the interface down.Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933 , is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of free CCNA and CCNP tutorials, The Ultimate CCNA Study Package, and Ultimate CCNP Study Packages. You can also join his RSS feed and visit his blog, which is updated several times daily with new Cisco certification articles, free tutorials, and daily CCNA / CCNP exam questions! ***Cisco CCNA / CCNP Certification Exam: Frame Relay Encapsulation Types***

When you're studying to pass the Cisco CCNA and CCNP certification exams, you quickly learn that there's always something else to learn. (You'll really pick up on this in your CCIE studies, trust me!) Today we'll take a look at an often-overlooked topic in Frame Relay, the encapsulation type. You don't exactly change this on a daily basis in production networks (not if you want to stay employed, anyway!), but it's an important exam topic that you must be familiar with. The DCE and DTE must agree on the LMI type, but there's another value that must be agreed upon by the two DTEs serving as the endpoints of the VC. The Frame encapsulation can be left at the default of Cisco (which is Cisco-proprietary), or it can be changed to the industry-standard IETF, as shown below. If a non-Cisco router is the remote endpoint, IETF encapsulation must be used. Note that the default of Cisco isn't listed as an option by IOS Help, so you better know that one by heart!R1(config)#int s0R1(config-if)#encap frame ?ietf Use RFC1490 / RFC2427 encapsulationR1(config-if)#encap frame ietfWhat if a physical interface is in use and some remote hosts require Cisco encapsulation and others require IETF? The encapsulation type can be configured on a per-PVC basis as well. One encap type can be used on the interface, and any map statements that require a different encap type can have that specified in the appropriate map statement. In the following example, all PVCs will use the default Cisco encapsulation type except for PVC 115. The frame map statement using that PVC has ietf specified.R1(config)#int s0 / 0R1(config-if)#encap frameR1(config-if)#frame map ip 123 broadcastR1(config-if)#frame map ip 122 ietf broadcastshow frame map shows us that the mapping to DLCI 123 is using Cisco encapsulation, and DLCI 122 is using IETF.R1#show frame mapSerial0 (up): ip dlci 123(0x7B,0x1CB0), staticbroadcast, CISCO, status defined, activeSerial0 (up): ip dlci 122(0x7B,0x1CB0), staticbroadcast, ietf, status defined, activeJust remember that Cisco is the default, and all PVCs will use Cisco unless you specify IETF in the frame map statement itself. You could also change the entire interface to use IETF for all mappings with the frame-relay encapsulation IETF command. For Cisco exams, as well as work on production networks, it's always a good idea to know more than one way to do something!Chris Bryant, CCIE #12933 , is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of free CCNA and CCNP tutorials, The Ultimate CCNA Study Package, and Ultimate CCNP Study Packages. You can also join his RSS feed and visit his blog, which is updated several times daily with new Cisco certification articles, free tutorials, and daily CCNA / CCNP exam questions!
